Who We Are

Maryland's first public charter school

Monocacy Valley Montessori Public Charter School is part of Frederick County Public Schools. Since 2002, the school has offered a public Montessori option for students and families seeking a hands-on, child-centered learning environment.

A practical school home

Families should be able to find the next step quickly, whether they are learning about MVMPCS for the first time or checking daily parent resources.

Why MVMPCS?

A public school with a clear Montessori foundation

Public Montessori

Prepared classrooms, hands-on materials, independence, and respect for each child's pace guide daily learning.

Pre-K Through Grade 8

Students grow in a small public school setting with familiar routines, mixed-age learning, and long-term relationships.

Charter Accountability

MVMPCS is part of Frederick County Public Schools and is accountable for public standards, access, and transparency.

Community Support

Families and volunteers help sustain the school through service, governance, fundraising, and shared responsibility.

What We Do

More with less

Unlike traditional public schools, Maryland charter schools do not receive separate facilities funding. MVMPCS uses operating funds, community support, and fundraising to maintain the building, support Montessori materials, and keep the program strong.
